I came across this ’20 Beauty Questions’ make-up tag on a make-up and lifestyle blog called Amber&Amethyst (which she found on Beautify Brooke).  Here are my answers to the make-up tag.  Hope you enjoy reading the post!

I’ve pasted the questions at the end of the post, so feel free to let me know your answers in the comments section below.  I always love finding out about other people’s favourite products and make-up stashes:o).

1. What was your first makeup item? 

I think it was a Covergirl light peach shimmery eyeshadow.  I can’t remember the shade name but I remember borrowing it from my mum a lot and then she eventually gave it to me :o) .

2. What’s your favorite online-only brand? 

Hmmm, that’s a hard one.  There aren’t any brands I purchase that are exclusively online.  There are some brands only available online in the UK that I enjoy ordering from time to time, like Tarte (QVC UK) but I usually try to check them out in store when I am abroad and can see them in person.

3. Light, medium, or full coverage foundation?

Light coverage foundation for me.  My skin is relatively good and I don’t like the feel of much face make-up on my skin.  I only ever really wear medium-full coverage foundation when I have a special occasion, event or long day at work and want my skin to look flawless all day.

4. What’s your favorite high end brand? 

I don’t generally buy high end brand make-up, even though I like swatching the products in store from time to time.  I usually stick to mid-end brands, like Kat Von D, Urban Decay and MAC as I find them affordable but not too expensive for me.

5. What brand have you always wanted to try but haven’t? 

Possibly Laura Mercier.  I often look at her products in store but I haven’t ever actually taken the jump and bought one of them.

6. Cheapest makeup product you own? 

I think perhaps some Victoria’s Secret lipgloss tubes I purchased when I was on holiday last year.  I got five on a special deal and I think they worked out at around £2 each.

7. Most expensive makeup product you own? 

I think it is a toss-up between my Charlotte Tilbury ‘Instant Look in a Palette’ (you can read my post on this palette here) and my Hourglass ‘Ambient Lighting Powder’ in Dim Light.  Charlotte Tilbury make-up is quite pricey and so the palette I have was a great way to try out a range of her products for a lot less.  I just couldn’t resist the Hourglass powder when I swatched it.  It is so beautiful and it gives the skin such a lovely glow.

8. What makeup can you not leave the house without? 

I will normally put on a slick of lipstick if I am going out somewhere.  I don’t mind going out without any make-up on but I like to have a ‘pop’ of colour on my lips.

9. What is your most cherished makeup product? 

I really love the two Hourglass products I own (Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light and Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Light.  They were quite expensive and so I feel really special when I use them.

10. Do you have a beauty budget? 

I don’t have a beauty budget as such but if I have bought quite a few items of make-up, I normally hold off buying make-up for a while.  I generally only buy those products that I really want or think are worth it and avoid overspending.

11. How often do you shop for makeup?

Just as and when I am in the shops or when I hear about a new product I want to check out.  I don’t have to buy anything as I just love the whole experience at browsing and swatching make-up.

12. Do you wear fake lashes? 

Nope.  I’ve never really got into them.  I like my natural lashes with mascara on them and fake lashes look a little too fiddly to me.

13. What type of product do you own the most of? 

Definitely eyeshadows! I have a real weaknesses for different coloured eyeshadows and various finishes.

14. What brands do you avoid? 

I don’t use anything from Collection 2000 as I had a really bad reaction to an eyeliner from them years ago.  The rest of the products might be fine but I don’t want to risk it.

15. Favorite place to shop? 

Boots! I just love having a browse of all of the beauty and hair products.  I can’t resist popping in for a quick look when I am passing by.

16. Favorite Bath & Body brand?

Sanctuary, followed by Soap and Glory.

17. Favorite skincare product? 

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Balm.  I discovered this product last October when my skin was feeling a little dry after using micellar water to remove my make-up.  It is sooooo good! It removes my make-up effortlessly and leaves my skin feeling really soft.  I might try and do a post on it at some point.

18. If you could buy from one brand what would it be?

That’s a really hard one, as I like different brands for particular types of products.  I would say Revlon for foundation/face powders, Benefit for blushers, MAC for eyeshadows, Urban Decay for eyeliners, Maybelline for mascaras and MAC for lipsticks.

19. What brand has the best packaging? 

I think that Too Faced releases products with really cute and colourful packaging.  I also think Urban Decay packaging looks very cool and it is generally quite streamlined.

20. What are your top 5 favorite beauty gurus? 

I consistently follow TiffanyD (makeupbytiffanyd), Emily Eddington (emilynoel1983 on YouTube), Zabrena (myeyeshadowconsultant.com and on YouTube), Sharon Farrell (on YouTube) and Marlena Stell (makeupgeek.com and YouTube).  I also recently starting watching Aisling (Dramatic MAC on YouTube) and really enjoy her make-up videos.
