Spotlight on MAC: Greens and Blues (Using MAC Eyeshadows)

I felt like wearing something colourful and came up with this bright green and blue look using MAC eyeshadows.  Some of these MAC eyeshadows are limited edition or no longer part of the permanent collection.  However, you can find similar shades from MAC and other brands to re-create this look.

To complement the look: I used Fenty Beauty Killawatt Highlighter in Ginger Binge as blusher (you can see photos of this product here), Anastasia Beverly Hills Powder Highlighter in Mimosa to highlight the cheeks and Inglot Lipstick in shade 131 on the lips.

Lid Looks With MAC Shiny Pretty Things Eyeshadows

MAC Make A Wish Shiny Pretty Eyeshadow

MAC Major Win Shiny Pretty Eyeshadow

MAC Joy To Shiny Pretty Eyeshadow

I thought it would be fun to post some simple looks showcasing the new MAC Shiny Pretty Eyeshadows I purchased recently (you can read my post on the MAC Shiny Pretty Eyeshadows with details, application tips, photos and swatches here).  Each of the three looks in this post showcases a different MAC Shiny Pretty Eyeshadow on the lid to illustrate the effect you can get with these products.

One thing worth mentioning is that the extreme sparkle, sheen and complexity in the shades shows up much more intensely in person than it does in the photos.  So you can expect much more sparkle and glitz with these products in person!

There are quite a few ways I can envisage using these products, whether you want a subtle pop of glitter or full on sparkle.  Let me know if you would like to see more look idea posts on how to use these eyeshadows!

Spotlight on MAC: Autumnal Smoke (Using MAC Eyeshadows)

I’ve repurchased MAC Expensive Pink twice as it is such a beautiful duochrome shade with hints of coral, orange and pink.  I’ve used it with a variety of shades and thought I would try it with cranberry and a deep charcoal for a warm, autumnal look.

To complement the look: I used Clinique Cheek Pop in 02 Peach Pop (click here to read more about this product) on the cheeks, MAC Beaming Blush Extra Dimension Skinfinish Highlighter to highlight the cheekbones and MAC Brave lipstick on the lips.

Spotlight on MAC: Going for Green (Using MAC Eyeshadows)

Green is one of my favourite colours to wear, both in terms of eyeshadow and clothing.  I thought I would play about with some MAC green eyeshadows and came up with this green combination.

To complement the look: I used Benefit Rockateur blusher on the cheeks and MAC Fresh and Frisky Huggable Lipcolour on the lips.

Spotlight on MAC: MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow

MAC Satin Taupe eyeshadow

Combination using MAC Satin Taupe (more details below!)

When I first started getting into MAC make-up, Satin Taupe had cult status amongst make-up bloggers and users.  The shade was regularly mentioned as must-have, due to its ability to look amazing on the lid all on its own or when combined with other eyeshadows.  No matter how much time has passed, MAC Satin Taupe is still an eyeshadow I find myself reaching for and one that continues to be a staple in my make-up collection.

Spotlight on MAC Dusky Greens (Using MAC eyeshadows)

MAC Coquette is quite an interesting shade and a relatively new addition to my make-up collection.  Coquette looks grey-ish taupe but can look more olive green, brown or golden, depending on what other shades you use alongside it.

For this look, I drew out the olive tones in Coquette by combining it with brown and green eyeshadows.

Spotlight on MAC: Aqua and Lime (Using MAC Eyeshadows)

Aquadisiac is such a beautiful, lustre finish aqua colour and one of my long-time favourite eyeshadows from MAC.  This particular eyeshadow is incredibly pigmented, so only a little is needed on a brush for high impact colour.  For this look, I used Aquadisiac alongside Lucky Green eyeshadow, which is another favourite of mine.

To complement the look: I used Kiko Baked Blush in Dreaming Coral on the cheeks (you can read my post and see swatches of this product here), Kiko Glow Fusion Powder Highlighter in 01 Champagne to highlight my cheekbones (you can read my post on this product here) and MAC Huggable Lipcolour Lipstick in Origami Orange on my lips.

Spotlight on MAC: Vivid Coral and Purple (Using MAC Eyeshadows)

For this look, I used peachy-coral, copper and plum MAC eyeshadows on the lid, followed by a slick of NYX Vivid Brights Coloured Liquid Liner in Vivid Violet along the upper lashline (you can read more on this product here).  I really love how the purple liner contrasts and ‘pops out’ against the peach and copper tones on the lid.

To complement the look: I used  Too Faced Sweethearts Bronzer in Sweet Tea (click here to read more about this product), Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in Sparkling Bellini (click here to read more about this product) and Loreal Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in 464 Color Hype.

All Out Blue (Using MAC Eyeshadows)

I thought it would be fun to use various shades of blue eyeshadow from MAC to kickstart my new ‘Spotlight on MAC’ series.  You can read more about the ‘Spotlight on MAC’ series here.

Some of the shades are from the permanent range, whilst a couple are from past limited edition collections.  I’ve given suggestions for permanent shades you can use in place of the limited edition ones, in case you don’t have them.

To complement the look:  I used Kiko Marmoreal Biscuit Baked Blush (you can read more about this product here) on my cheeks and Bare Minerals Gen Nude Lipstick in Nudist on the lips.

Pink Plumage

I really wanted to do something different with my eye make-up and came up with this bright pink and green colour combination.  The deep teal in the outer part of the lid adds extra depth to the eyes and also helps bring the pink and green shadows together.

To complement the look:  I used Kiko 3D Hydra Lipgloss in Shade 26 Sparkling Hibiscus Pink on the lips (see photos of this product and read more here), Too Faced Sweet Heart Blusher in ‘I Will Always Love You’ on the cheeks and Anastasia Glow Powder in Starburst (pale metallic pearly-pink) to highlight my cheekbones.
