The Palette Tag: All About My Eyeshadow Palettes

The ‘All About My Eyeshadow Palettes/Palette Tag’ has been featuring on so many YouTube pages recently and was originally a collaboration video between Allie Glines (you can see her video here) and Samantha March (you can see her video here).  For the tag, you answer 13 different questions about your eyeshadow palettes.

As someone who loves eyeshadow, I thought it would be fun to feature my choices for the tag too.  I’ve given links to posts on particular palettes and also look ideas using those palettes.

I’ve found it really interesting seeing other people’s choices, as the tag gives me a sense for the make-up preferences and styles of each person.  Some people focus more on neutral picks, some are colour fiends and others (like me) like a bit of everything.  I think it’s actually quite a helpful way to find out if the person’s make-up style matches your own, if it is different to yours and what inspires you.

I’ve pasted the questions at the end of the post, so feel free to let me know your answers in the comments section below.  It’s always nice to get to know more about readers too :o) .

This post provides an overview of all of the looks included in my recent Rainbow Series.  The Rainbow Series includes looks based around each of the colours of the rainbow.  You can read about the series and view each of the original individual posts here.

This post provides a short summary of each look and two face photos for each combination.  You can click on the links for each look (under the eye photos above and on the titles for each look below) to view more details on how to re-create that particular look, see more photos and see what cheek and lip products I used.

Tip: I used the Urban Decay Full Spectrum Palette for all of the looks but you can substitute in eyeshadows from any brand.  The NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette in ‘Brights’ is a great dupe for the Urban Decay Full Spectrum and cheaper (£16 instead of £43).  You can view the NYX Palette here.

Today’s look for the Rainbow Series is based around VIOLET, the seventh colour in the rainbow.  For this look, I combined violet with orange, coral and copper to create a fun contrast of colours on the eyes.  I often wear purples with blues or pinks, so it was fun to try out a different combination.  You can view full face shots, along with the cheek and lip colours I used, in this post.

Today’s look for the Rainbow Series is based around INDIGO, the sixth colour in the rainbow.  I was a little bit nervous about this colour, as I don’t normally wear dark, satin shades on my lid.  I like how it turned out, though, which shows it can be fun to experiment with different looks.  You can view full face shots, along with the cheek and lip colours I used, in this post.

Today’s look for the Rainbow Series is based around BLUE, the fifth colour in the rainbow.  I’ve not combined bright blue with hot pink before so I thought it would be a fun combination to try out.  I think this is one of my favourite colour combinations from the series so far!

Today’s look for the Rainbow Series is based around GREEN, the fourth colour in the rainbow.   I decided to combine the greens with dark indigo in the outer v for this look, as I usually veer more towards wearing greens with yellows.  I’m enjoying how this series is encouraging me to try out new colour combinations!  You can view full face shots, along with the cheek and lip colours I used, in this post.

Today’s look for the Rainbow Series is based around YELLOW, the third colour in the rainbow.  I decided to combine yellow with hot pink and purple to create a bright, spring-like effect on the eyes.  You can view full face shots, along with the cheek and lip colours I used, in this post.

If you dislike the feel or look of liquid foundations on your skin, then I highly recommend trying out the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup.  I’ve found myself reaching for this foundation on a regular basis, as I just love the consistency, feel, look and finish on my skin.  I generally prefer to wear face powder or powder foundations on a daily basis, so to find a liquid foundation that I actually like wearing shows me that this product is something special!

The formula is so comfortable, lightweight and natural looking that it is hard to believe I am wearing a liquid foundation.  Add to that the fresh, radiant and healthy look it gives to my skin and I think Urban Decay are on to a real winner with this product!

I have an article on the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer on the site which you can find here. I’m planning on updating the post as I wrote it back in 2016, so keep an eye out for the updated version soon!

You can find more posts featuring Urban Decay products on the site here.

Red Rainbow (Rainbow Series)

Today’s look for the Rainbow Series is based around RED, the first colour in the rainbow.  I always gravitate towards yellows or oranges when using red eyeshadows, so this time, I combined the red with hot pink, lime green and blackened-brown.  The tones I used are a bit more subtle, so you could use similar shades which are bolder for an amp-ed up version of the look.  You can view full face shots, along with the cheek and lip colours I used, in this post.
