Acid Rain With Red Pop (Using Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Palette)

This is the first of my looks using the new Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Palette.  I really wanted to try out some of the greens in the palette but I also liked the idea of adding in a little pop of red in the outer v.  If the red (Gash) is too much for you, you could always substitute it with a green (like Misdemeanor) or a brown (like Smog or Twice Baked) from the palette.

Being a make-up lover, I love watching YouTube videos, reading make-up blogs and browsing in stores to see all of the fun products out there.  I thought it would be fun to write a new type of post passing on information on new products, collections and other make-up related goodness.  I hope you enjoy reading this type of post too!

I recently found out that a Charlotte Tilbury counter will be opening in House of Fraser, Glasgow! Very, very exciting, particularly given that there aren’t any counters in Scotland.  The counter will be opening on Thursday 8 September in the section where the MAC counter used to be located (MAC has moved to where Yo Sushi used to be).

Kat Von D make-up is coming to the UK and Ireland! The brand will be available exclusively to Debenhams online.  You can read more about the launch here.

Bare Minerals has just added to their foundation line-up with the new BarePro Performance Wear Powder Foundation.  BarePro is a pressed mineral powder foundation and comes in 20 shades.  You can read more about this product here.

Urban Decay will be launching several new products as part of their Fall/Autumn collection.  Products will include two Vice Lip Palettes, the Naked Ultimate Basics Palette (see more on Temptalia here), the Naked Ultimate Illumination Trio (see more on XSparkage here), Urban Lashes and Moondust liquid eyeshadows.  They will also be re-launching vintage eyeshadows, lipsticks and nail polishes as part of their 20 year anniversary.  You can see a sneak peek of the Fall/Autumn launches on the Urban Decay Instagram page here and the Teen Vogue site here.

Do you like this sort of post? Any types of launches, make-up ranges or products you would like to read more about? Let me know in the comments section.

For this look, I added a slick of a glitter liner (Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Amp) along the lashline to add some sparkle to this aqua-green combination.  I really like the glitter liner adds a little extra something to the look, without changing it too much.

Face of the Day: Tie Dyed Mix

For this particular look, I took inspiration from a skirt I have with a tie-dye, swirled effect.  The skirt has a mix of black, pink, blue and purple and I thought it would look so cool to mimic that combination on my eyes.

If you are a fan of the Urban Decay Moondust eyeshadow singles or if you have always fancied trying them, then the new Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow Palette could be right up your street.  Eight eyeshadows which contain the perfect mix of colour, pigment and sparkle – what’s not to love? The good news is that this palette is permanent, so you can take your time in considering if it is a must-buy for you (it was for me!).

For this look, I combined terracotta-brown and copper-orange eyesahadows to create a warm, autumnal effect on the eyes.  I added in a little blackened olive-green eyeshadow to the outer v as well to add extra depth to the eyes.

Note: You can use any brand of eyeshadow you like which has similar shades to re-create this look (if you don’t have the Vice 4 palette).

I am a huge fan of the Urban Decay Vice palettes, as they usually contain a fantastic range of colours and finishes.  So when I found out they were releasing a new palette as part of their 20th anniversary, I was super excited! The palette is currently exclusively available from Debenhams and the official Urban Decay webpage in the UK, giving us a chance to sample the delights of past and present must-have Urban Decay shades.

The Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Palette contains 20 eyeshadows spanning their history, including vintage shades back from Urban Decay’s early days, must-haves from their current collection and completely new shades.  The vintage shades in this palette bring back a lot of memories for me, as I remember purchasing some of them in my student days.  Goldmine was my very first Urban Decay purchase, swiftly followed by Midnight Cowboy and Hot Pants.   What better way to try out some past much-loved shades and to experience must-haves from the current range?

Urban Decay recently launched two new palettes in the UK: the Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Palette and the Urban Decay Moondust Palette.  Very exciting!

The XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Palette is limited edition and exclusively available in Debenhams in the UK.  If you are interested, I would suggest grabbing it while you can!

The Moondust Palette will be part of the permanent UD line-up.  It is selling out quickly, though (I had to order it online as it was sold out in store), so it is worth snapping up if you want it now.

Update: click here to read my post on the XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Palette for more information, photos and swatches.  Click here to get ideas for combinations using this palette.

My Holiday Make-up Bag

When I’m on holiday, I like my make-up to be effortless and easy.  I like to look polished and nicely presented but I don’t want to have to spend much time getting ready.  When I’m visiting warmer climates, I also like my make-up to be very light and fresh; I prefer not to have much on my face at all.  Over the years, I’ve managed to whittle down my holiday make-up bag to those products that I know I will use.

I thought it would be fun to do a post featuring those products, as I know how hard it can be to leave products behind when you are a make-up lover! This post features my favourite face, eye and lip products for taking on holiday.

Face of the Day: Fresh and Peachy

This look shows that red lipstick can be used with eyeshadow shades other than neutrals.  I used peach and coral-red eyeshadows on the eyes to create a very fresh, slightly colourful effect on the eyes.

I completed the look using a peachy-pink blusher (MAC Pinch O’Peach) and a matte, pinky-red lipstick (Loreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Julianne’s Pure Red).
