Today, I am going to introduce you to one of my favourite products for brightening eyes: Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Distortion. I find that Distortion provides a subtle sparkle to the eyes without being over the top. I also like using this glitter eyeliner on days when I am feeling a little tired, as the small sparkles help to brighten eyes.
The Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners come in a sleek, lip gloss style tube which allows you to easily view the shade of the product inside.
When you unscrew the lid, you will see that the lid contains a thin brush which you can easily dip into the tube to apply the product.
The brush itself is very thin, which helps to provide versatility in application. You can choose to apply a thin line along the lashline if you prefer a very subtle effect. Alternatively, you can use the brush to apply the product more thickly and go over the line several times if you wish to have a strong glittery line. The brush bristles also stick together well, which means that the product applies evenly when swept across the lashline.
Distortion is a pretty white crystal shade interspersed with gold and green iridescent sparkles. This shade looks really pretty when it catches the light; sunlight really brings out the glimmer on the eyes. I like to apply a thin line of Distortion along the upper lashline and tend to go over the line again to make it more opaque.
You can pair Distortion with neutral creams, peaches and browns if you want to keep the overall effect very subtle and soft. Alternatively, you can also use Distortion with silvers, golds, greens and blacks if you want to create a look with more impact. In the first look below (Cream and Rose), I used Distortion with eyeshadows from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette to create a soft, pretty effect on the eyes:
In this second look below (Silvered Peach), I paired Distortion alongside silver and browns to add a little extra sparkle:
Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliners cost £14 and are available from various stores and online retailers, including Debenhams, House of Frasers and feelunique.com. The liners come in a variety of other fun colours, including pink, purple, turquoise, silver and green. I also have Junkshow, which is a pretty pink glitter interspersed with rainbow sparkles.
