I mentioned in my recent ‘sneak peek’ post (read more here) that I recently purchased three products from the Benefit brow range.  This post will focus on one of the products: the Goof Proof Brow Pencil.  When I was at the House of Fraser counter, I told the make-up artist that I wanted a product which I could use on my brows for a natural look.  Rachel (who served me) suggested that the Goof Proof Brow Pencil would be a good fit for my needs.  This pencil has quickly become one of my go-tos for quickly and easily filling in my brows.

Last month, I visited the House of Fraser counter in Glasgow to learn more about their brow products.  I haven’t used brow products much before and so I really wanted to learn more on how to fill in my brows properly.  One of the make-up artists, Rachel, was super helpful and showed me how to fill in my brows using a few of their products.  She introduced me to the Goof Proof Brow Pencil, as I said I wanted something which would give me a natural look (click here to read more about this product).

Rachel advised me that shade 3 would be the best match for me.  I’m sooooo happy I asked for her help with shade choice, as I would have probably chosen shade 5 to match my brows exactly.  I would have never thought to have gone for a slightly lighter shade but it turns out that shade 3 is the perfect match for me.  I also asked for a shade match at another counter in Glasgow and the make-up artist matched me to shade 3 as well.  So it was really helpful to see that the advice is consistent across branches.

I purchased the Goof Proof Pencil and since then, I’ve gone on to purchase a couple of the other products from the range: Ka Brow (a cream-gel brow product) and Ready, Set, Brow! (a clear shaping and setting brow gel).  I also just picked up Gimme Brow the other day (a tinted eyebrow gel).  I got Gimme Brow quite a while after I got the other products, so that’s why it isn’t in the ‘sneak peek’ photo above.  One of the nice points about the Benefit brow products is that your shade is consistent across the range.  So if you are a shade 3 in one product, you are a shade 3 in all of them.  It makes it so much easier to know which shade to buy!

Look out for posts on other Benefit brow products over the coming weeks!

Aside note: I also ended up getting a brow wax at the House of Fraser brow bar (Emma did it for me) as I felt like it would be nice to get them professionally shaped.  Emma really set me at ease and took me through exactly what she was going to do.  I was absolutely delighted with the results.  My brows looked just like I wanted them to: natural but nicely shaped and tidied up.  Having them professionally shaped has made it so much easier for me to fill them in properly as I can see the shape more clearly.  So I would really recommend the brow bar at the House of Fraser counter in Glasgow! If you are thinking of getting your brows done at a brow bar but are a little nervous about it, it’s worth speaking to the make-up artists first and having a look at their brows while you were there.  I did that and it really helped me feel that I would get my brows done in a way that would suit me.  If you want to know more about the brow wax process, let me know and I will try to write a separate post on that aspect.

Have you tried any of the Benefit brow products? What do you think of them? Let me know in the comments section below.

Urban Decay recently completely revamped their entire lipstick line and launched the Vice lipsticks.  The range includes an impressive 100 shades with six finishes, including sheer, sheer shimmer, cream, metallized, comfort matte and mega matte.  An additional 20 shades are also available exclusively to Sephora, so lucky you if you have access to Sephora to view these shades!

This post features the two shades I purchased with a metallized finish: Zealot and Cruel.  I also have Wonderland (Gwen Stefani packaging), Firebird (Gwen Stefani packaging) and Venom (from the old Revolution range).  Wonderland, Firebird and Venom have all been incorporated into the permanent Vice collection.  You can read my post on Wonderland lipstick here and my post on Venom lipstick here.

Maybelline recently released the Color Drama Intense Lip Paints in the UK (aka Color Jolt Intense Lip Paints in the USA) and they have quickly become a favourite of mine.  The lip paints are smooth, pigmented and feel so light on the lips.  I think they are a good dupe for the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks – just as pigmented but at a fraction of the price.  Click here to read my post comparing the Maybelline and Too Faced products.

Kiko Super Colour and Lasting Precision Eyeliners

On a recent visit to the Kiko store, I picked up two different types of eyeliners: one of their new Lasting Precision Automatic Eyeliners and one of their Super Colour Eyeliners.  I’ve been really enjoying trying out Kiko make-up recently and these two products are no exception.  These products are highly pigmented, glide on easily and last all day – everything I look for from an eyeliner.  Oh, and did I mention that they are reasonably priced as well? Another win-win for me from Kiko!

When I was in the Kiko store recently, this particular shade really caught my eye.  That, and the fact that the nail polishes were reduced to £1 from £3.90! What a bargain! I hadn’t used the Kiko nail polishes before, so I had no idea whether or not it would be any good.  Well, after using this polish, I can say that they are amazing! Colour, shine and reasonable wear time (about 3 days for this shade), all for only £1.

I have been enjoying using my High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow in 84 Pearly Green (click here to read more about this shade) and so I picked up two more shades to try out when I was in store recently.  There is a good selection of colours in the High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow range and these two shades caught my eye.  I love orange and purple eyeshadows and these two products had micro sparkle through them, making them extra pretty.  I just couldn’t resist trying them out!

I am a huge fan of the Urban Decay Vice palettes, as they usually contain a fantastic range of colours and finishes.  So when I found out they were releasing a new palette as part of their 20th anniversary, I was super excited! The palette is currently exclusively available from Debenhams and the official Urban Decay webpage in the UK, giving us a chance to sample the delights of past and present must-have Urban Decay shades.

The Urban Decay XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Palette contains 20 eyeshadows spanning their history, including vintage shades back from Urban Decay’s early days, must-haves from their current collection and completely new shades.  The vintage shades in this palette bring back a lot of memories for me, as I remember purchasing some of them in my student days.  Goldmine was my very first Urban Decay purchase, swiftly followed by Midnight Cowboy and Hot Pants.   What better way to try out some past much-loved shades and to experience must-haves from the current range?

My Holiday Make-up Bag

When I’m on holiday, I like my make-up to be effortless and easy.  I like to look polished and nicely presented but I don’t want to have to spend much time getting ready.  When I’m visiting warmer climates, I also like my make-up to be very light and fresh; I prefer not to have much on my face at all.  Over the years, I’ve managed to whittle down my holiday make-up bag to those products that I know I will use.

I thought it would be fun to do a post featuring those products, as I know how hard it can be to leave products behind when you are a make-up lover! This post features my favourite face, eye and lip products for taking on holiday.
