Sneak Peek: Fenty Beauty Pop-Up Store Haul

Fenty Beauty is currently touring the UK as part of the Harvey Nichols pop-up store and I was excited to see they had a location near to me.  There aren’t any stockists where I live and I also haven’t tried the brand before, so it was really fun to be able to finally see the products in person.  As part of the pop-up, Fenty Beauty were giving away a free make-up bag with a mini lipstick sample, as well as a foundation sample, with any two purchases.

I ended up choosing three products and also got the make-up bag with the samples to try.  I want to try them all out for a while before putting a more detailed post up but for now, I thought it would be fun to showcase what I picked up!

You can read more about the Fenty Beauty pop-up stores and find out the locations here.

Recently, I was browsing the Too Faced counter in my local Debenhams and picked out the shade ‘Bend & Snap’ in their ‘Melted Matte Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick’ formula.  I loved the rich, deep raspberry hue of the shade and thought the formula felt so light, velvety and smooth on the lips.  I just had to get it!

Over the past year, Bare Minerals has been launching various new products, including the Invisible Bronze Powder Bronzers.  I recently wrote about this bronzer as part of my ‘Make-up For Long and Busy Days’ post (click here to read more) as it is one of my favourite products for adding natural warmth and definition to my face.

I’m fairly new to using bronzer and so I wanted something that would look natural, be easy to use and add some subtle warmth to the face.  This particular bronzer ticks all of those boxes for me. I thought it would be fun to write a more detailed post about this product, as I think it is such a natural and easy to use bronzer!

My Favourite Make-Up For Long and Busy Days

In January, I was doing some intensive lecturing work and as part of that, I wanted my make-up to last well across the day.  I found some products within my existing make-up collection – and some new products – to be extremely long wearing.  Some of them also enabled me to skip parts of my usual make-up routine.  I thought it would be fun to put together a post on these products.  I might also try and do some more detailed posts on each product as well so let me know if that is something you would like to see!

Metallic make-up is big this season and lips are no exception.  MAC recently released limited edition Metallic finish lipsticks as part of their lipstick range.  I chose three shades – Forbidden Romance, Disobedient and Coral Optix – as I found them flattering and totally different from anything else that I have in my make-up collection.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Lipsticks: Fuel and Heat

Urban Decay recently launched their Naked Heat collection, including an eyeshadow palette, three Vice lipsticks and a 24/7 eyeliner.  I picked up two of the lipsticks (Heat and Fuel) and the eyeliner (Torch) as I loved these particular shades.  I don’t have anything else like Fuel in my make-up collection and Heat is just such a beautiful, burnished coppery-red shade.  Wonderful additions to my make-up collection!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks (Mother and Lolita II)

Kat Von D is a brand that I hadn’t tried until earlier this year when I took a trip to Dubai to meet some friends.  I was really excited to see that there was a Kat Von D counter in the Sephora and treated myself to a few products: a concealer (middle in the pic above), a lipstick and two of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks (left and right in the pic above).  I like the concealer and lipstick but I particularly love the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and so thought it was time for a post!!

Post Alert: I recently also treated myself to the Kat Von D Saint and Sinner Eyeshadow Palette.  Loooove this palette so much! You can read more on the palette here and see combination ideas here. Continue reading

One of my favourite plum lipsticks (MAC Craving) finished a while ago (sob!) and so there was a wee plum coloured gap in my lipstick collection.  Rather than buying the same shade again, I really wanted to try out a similar shade from another brand.  There is something really fun about trying out a similar shade from another brand, particularly one that I haven’t tried before.  Enter Smashbox ‘Be Legendary Lipstick’ in ‘My Digits’!

Sneak Peek: Benefit Brow Products

Last month, I visited the House of Fraser counter in Glasgow to learn more about their brow products.  I haven’t used brow products much before and so I really wanted to learn more on how to fill in my brows properly.  One of the make-up artists, Rachel, was super helpful and showed me how to fill in my brows using a few of their products.  She introduced me to the Goof Proof Brow Pencil, as I said I wanted something which would give me a natural look (click here to read more about this product).

Rachel advised me that shade 3 would be the best match for me.  I’m sooooo happy I asked for her help with shade choice, as I would have probably chosen shade 5 to match my brows exactly.  I would have never thought to have gone for a slightly lighter shade but it turns out that shade 3 is the perfect match for me.  I also asked for a shade match at another counter in Glasgow and the make-up artist matched me to shade 3 as well.  So it was really helpful to see that the advice is consistent across branches.

I purchased the Goof Proof Pencil and since then, I’ve gone on to purchase a couple of the other products from the range: Ka Brow (a cream-gel brow product) and Ready, Set, Brow! (a clear shaping and setting brow gel).  I also just picked up Gimme Brow the other day (a tinted eyebrow gel).  I got Gimme Brow quite a while after I got the other products, so that’s why it isn’t in the ‘sneak peek’ photo above.  One of the nice points about the Benefit brow products is that your shade is consistent across the range.  So if you are a shade 3 in one product, you are a shade 3 in all of them.  It makes it so much easier to know which shade to buy!

Look out for posts on other Benefit brow products over the coming weeks!

Aside note: I also ended up getting a brow wax at the House of Fraser brow bar (Emma did it for me) as I felt like it would be nice to get them professionally shaped.  Emma really set me at ease and took me through exactly what she was going to do.  I was absolutely delighted with the results.  My brows looked just like I wanted them to: natural but nicely shaped and tidied up.  Having them professionally shaped has made it so much easier for me to fill them in properly as I can see the shape more clearly.  So I would really recommend the brow bar at the House of Fraser counter in Glasgow! If you are thinking of getting your brows done at a brow bar but are a little nervous about it, it’s worth speaking to the make-up artists first and having a look at their brows while you were there.  I did that and it really helped me feel that I would get my brows done in a way that would suit me.  If you want to know more about the brow wax process, let me know and I will try to write a separate post on that aspect.

Have you tried any of the Benefit brow products? What do you think of them? Let me know in the comments section below.
