I was browsing in Boots last week and noticed that there were some new NYX products being featured at the front display section at the NYX counter.  The new ‘Away We Glow’ collection includes two eyeshadow palettes and the palette called ‘Hooked On Glow’ really caught my eye due to the beautiful mix of peach, gold, brown tones.  The Lip Lingerie Glosses looked really interesting, as the same shades were available in three finishes: regular gloss, shimmer and glitter.  I ended up choosing Euro Trash in the Shimmer finish.

NYX ‘Away We Glow’ Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Hooked in Glow’

There are two NYX ‘Away We Glow’ eyeshadow palettes to choose from: one with warm peaches, golds and browns (Hooked on Glow) and the other with a mix of warm and cool peaches, browns and plums (Love Beam).  I liked the look of both palettes but ended up choosing Hooked on Glow as I particularly liked the shimmery golds and deep bronze tones. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Each palette contains 10 eyeshadow shades with a range of finishes.  There seems to be a really good mix of metallic, shimmer and matte finishes in the palette which I think will help towards creating various types of looks.  There is also a good mix of light, medium and dark tones which can be useful in creating depth on the eye.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The eyeshadows feel very smooth, buttery and blendable upon swatching.  The colours seem to be beautifully pigmented when I swatch them too, so that seems promising! I’m looking forward to trying them out to see if they show up as well on the eye as they do when I swatch them on my hand.

NYX Lip Lingerie Lip Gloss in ‘Eurotrash’ (Shimmer Finish)

I found the Lip Lingerie Lip Glosses quite appealing as not only do they feel beautifully creamy when swatched on the skin, they are also available in three different finishes (gloss, shimmer, glitter).  I haven’t seen a brand release the same shade in a choice of finishes before.  I think it’s a really interesting idea, as some people might find a shade they like but not necessarily like the finish of the product. 

The NYX website stocks nine shades (including a clear gloss), each in three finishes.  Boots and Debenhams have a smaller range of colours, with five shades (including a clear gloss) available in a choice of three finishes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I chose ‘Eurotrash’ , which is a creamy, medium, muted coppery-rose shade.  On my lips, the shade mutes quite a bit due to my natural lip colour and turns into more of a lighter, neutral, nude copper-rose tone. The gloss version looked like offerings I have seen from other brands, so I didn’t find it so appealing.  I found it hard to choose between the Shimmer and Glitter finish as both looked beautiful.  The Glitter one reminded me a lot of my MAC Forbidden Romance Metallic lipstick (you can see my post, along with swatches here) so I ended up opting for the Shimmer finish, as I don’t have anything like it in my collection.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The lip gloss seems to be very smooth, creamy and with a good level of opacity.  I am looking forward to seeing how it looks on the lips on its own, over lipsticks and how it wears across the day.  

I think this lip gloss will look beautiful with smokey eyes, green and blue eyeshadow combinations.  I think it will also work really well with neutral, gold or brown eyeshadow combinations for a soft, sophisticated look.
