Spotlight on MAC: MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow

MAC Satin Taupe eyeshadow

Combination using MAC Satin Taupe (more details below!)

When I first started getting into MAC make-up, Satin Taupe had cult status amongst make-up bloggers and users.  The shade was regularly mentioned as must-have, due to its ability to look amazing on the lid all on its own or when combined with other eyeshadows.  No matter how much time has passed, MAC Satin Taupe is still an eyeshadow I find myself reaching for and one that continues to be a staple in my make-up collection.

Makeup Revolution The Emily Edit: The Wants Palette

I mentioned in my recent ‘sneak peek’ post (you can see the post here) that one of my favourite YouTubers, EmilyNoel83, has launched two palettes, in collaboration with MakeupRevolution.  The two palettes – The Wants and The Needs – are amazing and I have really been enjoying playing with them.

Today’s post features ‘The Wants’, an eyeshadow palette with 24 eyeshadows spanning a wide range of colours, tones and finishes.  The shades in the palette have been created to inspire you, as well as to keep you in your comfort zone with your make-up.

I absolutely love this eyeshadow palette, as it has an amazing range of colours, tones and finishes, all for just £15.  I would highly recommend the palette to anyone who wants to try out lots of different, great quality shades at an affordable price.

You can read my post on ‘The Needs’ Palette here.

You can view eyeshadow combinations and look ideas using The Wants Palette on the site here! I’m really enjoying playing around with it and creating different looks.  Let me know if there are any shades you would love me to showcase in looks!

Spotlight on MAC Dusky Greens (Using MAC eyeshadows)

MAC Coquette is quite an interesting shade and a relatively new addition to my make-up collection.  Coquette looks grey-ish taupe but can look more olive green, brown or golden, depending on what other shades you use alongside it.

For this look, I drew out the olive tones in Coquette by combining it with brown and green eyeshadows.

New NYX Make-Up: Away We Glow Eyeshadow Palette and Lip Lingerie Glosses

I was browsing in Boots last week and noticed that there were some new NYX products being featured at the front display section at the NYX counter.  The new ‘Away We Glow’ collection includes two eyeshadow palettes and the palette called ‘Hooked On Glow’ really caught my eye due to the beautiful mix of peach, gold, brown tones.  The Lip Lingerie Glosses looked really interesting, as the same shades were available in three finishes: regular gloss, shimmer and glitter.  I ended up choosing Euro Trash in the Shimmer finish.

You can see my full post, including photos and swatches on the Hooked on Glow Eyeshadow Palette here.  Let me know if you would also like to see a full post on the Lip Lingerie Gloss that I picked up.

Berry, Peach and Lime Pop (Using Kat Von D Saints and Sinners Palette)

I haven’t yet played around with Rosary from the Kat Von D Saint and Sinner Eyeshadow Palette and was keen to try it out.  For this look, I used it alongside Sacred Heart (a peachy-coral shade) and Exodus (a light acid green) to create a soft, colourful effect on the eyes.  I really like how Exodus (the lime green shade) pops out in the inner part of the lid.

Lime Ministry (Using Kat Von D Saint and Sinner Palette)

I really love the bright blue (Ministry) and the lime shade (Exodus) from the Kat Von D Saint and Sinners Eyeshadow Palette (click here to read about this product, see photos and view swatches) and wanted to see what they looked like together.  I like how the lime green pops out from the middle of the lid when the eyes are closed.

To complement the look: I used Benefit Galifornia (click here to read more about this product) on the cheeks, Makeup Revolution Highlighter in Golden Lights (bright light white-gold) to highlight the tops of my cheekbones and MAC Shanghai Spice (creamy peachy-nude) on the lips.

Purple Emerald (Using Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette)

My last couple of looks with the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette (click here to see my post on this palette) have been fairly subtle and so I really wanted to experiment with a bolder look.  This look combines together deep metallic forest green and purple eyeshadows to create a strong, defined effect on the lids.

To complement the look: I used The Balm Balm Springs Blush on the cheeks, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer (click here to read more about this product) to highlight the tops of the cheekbones and Maybelline Color Drama Intense Lip Paint in 610 Stripped Down (click here to read more about this product) on the lips.

Pink Plumage

I really wanted to do something different with my eye make-up and came up with this bright pink and green colour combination.  The deep teal in the outer part of the lid adds extra depth to the eyes and also helps bring the pink and green shadows together.

To complement the look:  I used Kiko 3D Hydra Lipgloss in Shade 26 Sparkling Hibiscus Pink on the lips (see photos of this product and read more here), Too Faced Sweet Heart Blusher in ‘I Will Always Love You’ on the cheeks and Anastasia Glow Powder in Starburst (pale metallic pearly-pink) to highlight my cheekbones.

Acid Green Devil (Using Kat Von D Saints and Sinners Palette)

I really fancied trying out Vestment (a deep metallic blackened teal) with Exodus (a light matte acid green) together and came up with this eyeshadow combination.  I added in Devil (a matte orange) into the crease to add some warmth and a punchy twist to the look.

To complement the look, I used Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Lolita II’ (a medium warm terracotta-chestnut) on the lips and The Balm ‘Balm Springs’ blusher (a matte medium dusty, earthy rose) on the cheeks.  You can read more, see photos and view swatches of Lolita II here.
