For this look, I combined shimmery champagne-pewter and blue-based eyeshadows to create a soft wash of colour across the lids.

Category Neutral With a Pop of Colour
Minnesota Vikings Inspired
This is the fifth look in my ‘American Football Teams’ inspired series. The Minnesota Vikings’ colours are white, yellow and purple. I used more muted, shimmery shades for this look as I wanted to create a softer effect on the eyes. You could use matte or stronger hues of these shades to create a bolder version of the look.
There are also a couple of full face shots at the end of the post, in case you want to see how the whole look comes together.
Tip: Using eyeshadows with a different finish can change the intensity of a look. Matte shades can come out stronger, whilst shimmery or pearl versions of colours can create a more muted effect on the eyes.

Pink Guava (Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette)
For this look, I used olive green and metallic pink-peach eyeshadows to create a highlighted effect on the eye. This type of look uses a darker shade in the inner/outer lids and a light shade in the middle of the lid, helping to made eyes look rounded and bigger.
I used the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette to create this look but you can easily swap in other brands with similar shades.

Face of the Day: Pink Ballerina (Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette)
For this look, I used neutral shades of pink eyeshadow to create a fresh and polished effect on the eyes. Using pale shimmery pinks on the eyes is a good way to introduce a little colour to your routine without deviating too much from a neutral spectrum. Pale pinks can also be very brightening on the eyes – perfect for days when you might be feeling a little tired.
Tip: This look is neutral enough that you can pair it with other lip colours. Plums, burgundies and brighter pinks would add an extra surge of colour to this look and take it from day-time to night-time chic.

Wearable Purples
This look shows that colour can be wearable when more muted shades are used on the eyes. I used subtle shades of purple and grey to create a soft wash of colour on the lids.

Gilded Gold
For this look, I used shades of gold, brown and burgundy to create a warm, autumnal effect on the eyes. This type of look is neutral enough that it can be easily paired with any shade of lipstick, blusher or any outfit.
Tip: Try adding in some black eyeshadow to the outer v if you want to make the look smokier. You can also add in black liner along the lash lines to create a more defined effect on the eyes.

Natural Bordello Sparkle
For this look, I applied a slick of pink glitter liner to add some sparkle to a neutral eyeshadow combination. Using glitter eyeliner along the upper lashline is an effective way of adding some intrigue to an existing look, without changing it too much. Here’s how to create the look:
Forest Green Liner
This look shows how combining a coloured eyeliner with neutral eyeshadows can add a fun ‘pop’ of definition to the eyes. You could use any shade of eyeliner with this look (blue, plum and bronze would look lovely too) to create a different effect on the eyes.
Tip: For this look, I patted a bottlegreen eyeshadow over a teal-green eyeliner, changing the liner to a forest green shade. You can easily transform an eyeliner shade by patting any eyeshadow from your existing make-up kit over the lines you have drawn. This is a great way of creating new looks without having to purchase new products.

Face of the Day: Bronzed Glow
For this look, I paired bronze-toned colours on the eyes and cheeks with a hot orange-red lipstick. I used the ‘Highlighted Look‘ style of eyeshadow application to create this look (click on the link for more information). This type of look uses a darker shade in the inner/outer lids and a light shade in the middle of the lid.
You can pair other bright lip colours with this type of eye look as well, such as bright corals, deep burgundies and hot pinks. Alternatively, you can use muted pinks, nudes or light peach lip shades if you prefer a softer look.

Cream and Rose (Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette)
For this look, I created a soft, wide-awake effect on the eyes by combining cream and rose eyeshadows with a slick of glitter liner. Using lighter shades of eyeshadow and glitter eyeliner along the upper lashline are effective ways of adding brightness to the eyes (perfect if you are feeling a little tired as I was on this day!).
