Spring Hues

When I started creating this look, I wasn’t quite sure what combination I was going to come up with.  All I knew was that I wanted to try out the new Kiko 84 light green eyeshadow that I purchased recently.  I ended up using purple and peach shades alongside the green.  I think the combination is really fresh and spring-like, perfect for whenever you want something fun but soft on the eyes.

I visited the Livingston Designer Retail Outlet a couple of weeks ago and was incredibly excited to see that there is now a ‘Cosmetic Company Store’ there!!! If you live in the USA, you may have seen The Cosmetic Company Stores.  This store is the first of its kind in Scotland (yaaaaay!) and so I was thrilled to see there is now one within driving distance for me.

The CCS sells premium brand make-up at reduced prices.  The brands that I spotted on my visit were MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Smashbox and Bumble and Bumble.   The products are genuine and there is nothing wrong with them.  They tend to be those from limited edition ranges, surplus stock from existing ranges and shades which are being phased out by the make-up brands.

I picked up five different MAC goodies while I was in the store (read on to see what I picked up).  I think I may have to go back in a few months again and see what new stock they have in!!

MAC Patina is a really interesting eyeshadow, in that it can look more gold, taupe or green, depending on what other shades you use alongside it.  I combined Patina with green, brown and taupe tones to bring out the different flecks in the shade.

I recently discovered that there is now a Kiko make-up shop in Glasgow city centre.  I’ve only been in a Kiko store once before (when I was visiting Mallorca) and picked up a few of their Water eyeshadows.  I really loved the make-up – based on its range, quality and affordability – and so I was very excited to see we now have a store in Glasgow!

There are tonnes of products to choose from in store, including make-up, nail care, skin care and beauty tools.  I’ve been in a couple of times since the store opened and picked up two eyeshadows and two lipliners.

Cleaning brushes is one of the least favourite parts of my make-up routine.  Finding something that makes it that little bit easier – and quicker – is always welcome.  I recently picked up the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette and think it is a fantastic little tool for helping me to deep clean my brushes quickly and effortlessly.

Bright and Sweet (Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette)

I used neutral shades from the Urban Decay Smoky Palette (and the brush which comes with it) to create this neutral, highlighted effect on the eyes.  This combination shows that even when a palette is catered towards smoky looks, you can still create more wearable combinations when you use the lighter shades.

I love reading articles on other make-up blogs featuring new make-up and beauty purchases.  It made me think, why not do something similar on my own site? I know the excitement I feel when I purchase new beauty products, so I thought it might be fun to add this type of post to my own site.

For this look, I used shades from the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette to create a soft, plummy effect on the eyes.

Note: I used the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and the brush that comes with it to create this look.  You can use any brand of eyeshadow you like which has similar shades to re-create this look (if you don’t have the Naked 3 palette), along with any similar brushes in your kit.
