For this look, I smoked out a  bright purple liner to create a soft ‘pop’ of colour around the lashlines.  I also combined the purple with aqua-green and brown on the lid to add extra contrast to the look.  You could use a different shade of eyeliner (e.g. blues, greens or coppers) to create a fun variation on the same look. Vamp It Up With Urban Decay Venom

Today, I am going to introduce to Urban Decay Venom.  Venom is a deep, plum-berry lipstick which creates a beautiful, sultry effect on the lips.  The satin finish to this shade makes the lips look sophisticated, defined and polished, rather than flat or overly shiny.  The depth of colour in Venom also means that it lasts well throughout the day and does not require regular touch-ups.

For this look, I used a deep purple eyeshadow with medium and deep chocolate browns in the crease to create a soft, colourful smokey eye.  I used the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette to create this look but you can use any brand of eyeshadow you like which has similar shades.

This look is part of The Chocolate series, which shows how you can experiment with a different lid colour to change up an existing look.  You can find the full Chocolate series here.

If you are interested in how these combinations look on other people, then I’d recommend taking a look at @shinebridabeauty on Instagram! @shinebridabeauty tagged me to show she was inspired by The Chocolate Series and re-created the looks on her Instagram page.  It’s so wonderful to see the combinations on someone else.  @shinebridabeauty also uses different products, which that you don’t need the same items to re-create a look.  She also came up with her own extra Chocolate look – Coconut Chocolate – so look out for that one on her Instagram page!

Benefit Rockateur Blusher

Today, I am going to introduce you to one of my new favourite blushers: Benefit Rockateur Blusher.  Rockateur is described as a ‘rose-gold’ and I find that the blusher fits this description well.  The blusher comes in a box which includes a small brush and a mirror, which means you can easily pop it in your bag for touch-ups when you are out and about.

This look combines pink, purple and blue to create a bright, yet wearable, colourful eye.  Applying a bright blue to the outer v provides an interesting ‘pop’ of colour alongside the pink and purple shades.  You could use a dark purple in the outer v (in place of the blue) if you would prefer a more subtle look.  Here’s how to re-create this look:

Cleaning Make-up Brushes

This article builds upon Part Three of ‘the All About Brushes’ series to explain how to clean your make-up brushes using these products.  Brush cleanser, baby shampoo and make-up anti-bacterial spray are all effective products for keeping your brushes fresh, clean and ready for make-up application.  Washing your make-up brushes regularly (at least every one or two weeks) makes for good hygiene, prevents product build-up, maintains the bristles and ensures effective application of make-up.

Applying a darker colour to the inner/outer lid and a lighter, shimmery shade to the middle of the eyelid helps to really highlight eyes and make them look rounder in shape.  I combined eyeshadows across the orange spectrum to create this look but you could also use the same technique using dark, medium and light eyeshadows from another colour family (try shades of green, blue or purple).

I used shades of charcoal grey, black and silver on the eyes to create this sultry, smokey eye look.  Applying the eyeliner first and then applying eyeshadows on top of this helps to create a more diffused, smouldering and smokey effect on the eyes.  This type of look is perfect for a special occasion, evening out or even if you have a little more time to experiment with your make-up.  Here’s how to re-create this look:
