For this look, I combined pink and taupe-charcoal eyeshadows with a blackish-purple liner to create a sophisticated berry eye.  Applying eyeshadows after liner softens any harsh lines and helps everything to blend together nicely.  I used the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette and the Urban Decay eyeliner in Delinquent but you can use any other brands with similar shades.

Techniques and Tips for Applying Eyeshadow

This article explains how to apply eyeshadow to the various parts of the eye.  Different techniques, such as patting (for lid colour), using a back and forth ‘windscreen wiper’ motion (for crease/highlight colours) and drawing in the v (for the outer v colour) help eyeshadow to apply and blend more effectively.

For this look, I created a soft, wide-awake effect on the eyes by combining cream and rose eyeshadows with a slick of glitter liner.  Using lighter shades of eyeshadow and glitter eyeliner along the upper lashline are effective ways of adding brightness to the eyes (perfect if you are feeling a little tired as I was on this day!).  Here’s how to create the look:

This post shows you how you can easily change up an existing look by adding a ‘pop’ of glitter liner along the upper lashline.  Look 2 (two pictures above to the right) features the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Distortion (click here to read more about this product).  You could also experiment with other colours of glitter eyeliner or pencil eyeliner to add an interesting effect, without changing the eyeshadows.  Here’s how to create the two versions of the Silvered Peach look:

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Distortion

Today, I am going to introduce you to one of my favourite products for brightening eyes: Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Distortion.  I find that Distortion provides a subtle sparkle to the eyes without being over the top.  I also like using this glitter eyeliner on days when I am feeling a little tired, as the small sparkles help to brighten eyes.

For this look, I combined a teal-green liner with pinks and purples to create a colourful, candy-like eye.  Applying a pinky-purple eyeshadow over the eyeliner transformed the teal-green into a pretty shade of turquoise and helped tie the overall look together.  Here’s how to re-create this look:

For this look, I used champagne, taupe and brown eyeshadows to create a soft and neutral effect on the eyes.  Neutral tones on the eyes combine well with a variety of lip colour such as pinks, reds or more natural nudes.  I wore this look with Max Factor Ruby Tuesday, which is a satin finish true red.

I used the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette to create this look but you can use any brand of eyeshadow you like which has similar shades.

For this look, I used a bright cherry-cranberry eyeshadow with medium and deep chocolate browns in the crease to create a warm cranberry effect on the eyes.  I used the Urban Decay Vice 3 palette to create this look but you can use any brand of eyeshadow you like which has similar shades.

This look is part of The Chocolate series, which shows how you can experiment with a different lid colour to change up an existing look.  You can find The Chocolate series here.

If you are interested in how these combinations look on other people, then I’d recommend taking a look at @shinebridabeauty on Instagram! @shinebridabeauty tagged me to show she was inspired by The Chocolate Series and re-created the looks on her Instagram page.  It’s so wonderful to see the combinations on someone else.  @shinebridabeauty also uses different products, which that you don’t need the same items to re-create a look.  She also came up with her own extra Chocolate look – Coconut Chocolate – so look out for that one on her Instagram page!
