Autumn Colours with Periwinkle Liner

I felt like doing something different with my eye make-up yesterday and came up with this combination.  I added in a slick of pale blue liquid liner along the upper lashline to add an unexpected flash of colour to a peachy-pink, orange and brown eyeshadow look.

Tip: If the blue liner is too much for you, you can just leave it out and stick with the eyeshadow look.  I really liked how the eyeshadow combination looked on its own as well.

For this look, I added a slick of a glitter liner (Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Amp) along the lashline to add some sparkle to this aqua-green combination.  I really like the glitter liner adds a little extra something to the look, without changing it too much.

Face of the Day: Tie Dyed Mix

For this particular look, I took inspiration from a skirt I have with a tie-dye, swirled effect.  The skirt has a mix of black, pink, blue and purple and I thought it would look so cool to mimic that combination on my eyes.

This look shows that red lipstick can be used with eyeshadow shades other than neutrals.  I used peach and coral-red eyeshadows on the eyes to create a very fresh, slightly colourful effect on the eyes.

I completed the look using a peachy-pink blusher (MAC Pinch O’Peach) and a matte, pinky-red lipstick (Loreal Colour Riche Lipstick in Julianne’s Pure Red).

FOTD: Loaded Teal

For this look, I brightened up a deep teal smokey eye by applying a true gold eyeshadow on the inner part of the lid.  Using a lighter, shimmery shade on the inner lid adds some contrast when using deeper colours elsewhere on the lid.

When I started creating this look, I wasn’t quite sure what combination I was going to come up with.  All I knew was that I wanted to try out the new Kiko 84 light green eyeshadow that I purchased recently.  I ended up using purple and peach shades alongside the green.  I think the combination is really fresh and spring-like, perfect for whenever you want something fun but soft on the eyes.

The Cosmetics Company Store: MAC Goodies!

Left to Right: MAC Huggable Glass in ‘Love Buzz’, MAC Dazzleshadow in ‘Can’t Stop, ‘Won’t Stop’, MAC Eyeshadow Pot in ‘Wow Factor’, MAC Dazzleshadow in ‘Say It Isn’t So’, MAC Paintpot in ‘Nice Composure’

I visited the Livingston Designer Retail Outlet a couple of weeks ago and was incredibly excited to see that there is now a ‘Cosmetic Company Store’ there!!! If you live in the USA, you may have seen The Cosmetic Company Stores.  This store is the first of its kind in Scotland (yaaaaay!) and so I was thrilled to see there is now one within driving distance for me.

The CCS sells premium brand make-up at reduced prices.  The brands that I spotted on my visit were MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, Smashbox and Bumble and Bumble.   The products are genuine and there is nothing wrong with them.  They tend to be those from limited edition ranges, surplus stock from existing ranges and shades which are being phased out by the make-up brands.

I picked up five different MAC goodies while I was in the store (read on to see what I picked up).  I think I may have to go back in a few months again and see what new stock they have in!!

MAC Patina is a really interesting eyeshadow, in that it can look more gold, taupe or green, depending on what other shades you use alongside it.  I combined Patina with green, brown and taupe tones to bring out the different flecks in the shade.

This look shows that red lips can be paired effectively with coloured eyeshadows on the eyes (not just neutrals) if they are kept very soft.  I used a crease/blender brush (MAC 217) to softly smudge olive green and forest green eyeshadows onto the lid.

I completed the look using a rose-gold blusher and, of course, the hot orange-red lipcolour (Maybelline Colour Drama Velvet Lip Pencil in 410 Fab Orange) shown in the photos.

Green is one of my favourite colours and so I wanted to create a look based around this shade.  I combined together the NYX Slide-on Eye Pencil in Tropical Green with gold and lime green eyeshadows.  I completed the look with golden peach blusher on the cheeks and a satiny peachy-coral on the lips.
