FOTD: Yellow and Coral (Using NYX Swear By It Palette)

I created this look using the NYX Swear By It Eyeshadow Palette (you can see my post, see photos and view swatches of this palette here) some time ago.  My look was inspired by a look I saw Allie Glines create on YouTube.  She based her version on a look created by someone else too (I’m not sure who, unfortunately).

I used similar tones to Allie Glines on the eyes but I chose a coral lipstick instead of the red which she used.  I’m a huge fan of MAC Toying Around Lipstick, which is a beautiful, Amplified finish, medium bright coral shade and thought it would work well with the tones on the eyes.  This particular lipstick shade was limited edition but I think other brands will have similar shades.

I’m planning to post more of the looks I have created using this palette on the site, so stay tuned! You can find looks using this palette on the site here.

If you would like some look ideas using particular shades in the palette, or certain types of looks, let me know!

FOTD: Subtle Plum Eyes and Bold Lips (Using NYX Swear By It Palette)

I really enjoy using the NYX Swear By It Eyeshadow Palette (you can see my post, see photos and view swatches here) but for some reason, I never got round to posting looks I created using the palette.

This particular look uses plum shades from the palette to create some subtle definition on the eyes.  I chose to keep the eyes quite pared down as I wanted to wear this beautiful deep plum lipstick, MAC Huggable Lipcolour in Cocomotion.  I must have forgotten to write down the exact shades I used from the palette to create this look as I can’t see them in my folder (sorry!) but I remember using a combination of the plum shades in the first column (top down).

I’m planning to post more of the looks I have created using this palette on the site, so stay tuned! You can find looks using this palette on the site here.

Spotlight Smokey Purple and Pink (Using Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette)

For this look, I created a spotlight/halo effect on the eye using pink, purple and chocolate-plum shades from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette.  You can see my post on this palette here.

You can find more tips on how to create a spotlight/highlight/halo effect on the eyes in this post here.

Silver and Browns (Using Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette)

Rich Girl is a really pretty, light metallic silvery-taupe shade from the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Eyeshadow Palette (click here to see my post on this palette).  This look is slightly smokey, yet still neutral enough that you can pair it with most lip colours.  I wore a bright, deep pink shade with this look and I can also imagine it working well with reds, deep berries, plums and light neutrals.

Purple and Coral (Using Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette)

I really love the combination of purple and coral, either in an eyeshadow combination or on the eyes and lips.  For this look, I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette (you can see my post on the palette here) to create a bronze and purple eye.  I applied Too Faced Peach Kiss Moisture Matte Long Wear Lipstick in Peach Beach (you can see my post on these lipsticks here) to give a peach-coral finish to the lips.

MAC ‘Ageless Beauty’ Masterclass Event: Part Two

MAC Masterclass Event: Some of the free goodies and purchases

A couple of months ago, I attended a MAC Masterclass event focusing on ‘Ageless Beauty’.  You can read my first post providing background on the event here.

This particular post focuses on the content covered in the Masterclass.  The Masterclass was called ‘Ageless Beauty’, with the focus on achieving beautiful skin at all ages.  The post gives more details on the class content, skin care routine, day look and evening look.

I have written a series of posts about the event which I will be posting on the site.  Each part focuses on a specific aspect, so you can either read them all or go to the one that you are specifically interested in.  Part One (read more here) provides Background to the Masterclass (what is a MAC Masterclass, cost and booking, structure, goodie bag, after the event).  Part Two (this post) covers the Masterclass Content and Look Overview (skin care, day time look, evening look).  Part Three will provide details on the tips and techniques I learned from the event.

Interested in reading more about MAC? You can read more posts on products, looks and find inspiration under the ‘Spotlight on MAC’ series tab here (you can also find the series tab on the menu bar under ‘Favs, Hauls & Brands) or under the ‘MAC’ tab here (on the menu bar under Favs, Hauls and Brands/Brands) or by searching for ‘MAC’ in the search box.

Morphe Live in Color Artistry Palette

Morphe Live in Color Artistry Palette

Morphe recently released their Live in Color Artistry Palette as part of Pride celebrations across June/July 2019.  This is the first time I have purchased a product from Morphe; I couldn’t resist this palette as I love colourful eyeshadows!

I think the Morphe Live in Color Artistry Palette is a fantastic choice if you love colour or want to add some colour to your existing collection.  There is an incredible assortment of shades, tones and finishes in the palette, giving so many possibilities for different looks and colour combinations.  The eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented, give fantastic colour payoff and are blendable, making them easy to work with when creating looks.

I feel so inspired every time I pick up this palette and find myself reaching for different shades to create fun looks.  It’s so easy to stick with the same shades in a palette, so I think it is fantastic that this palette encourages me to experiment and try out all sorts of colours.

A wonderful aspect to this palette is that 100% of net proceeds from the collection (there is also a brush set available) will be made to The Trevor Project.  The Trevor Project is a US-based non-profit organisation which helps to fund 24/7 suicide prevention and crisis intervention services for LGBTQ+ youth.  It’s really nice to feel you are giving something back through purchasing this beautiful eyeshadow palette.

You can view various looks that I have created using the Morphe Live in Color Artistry Palette on my site here.

I have been enjoying creating different looks using the Makeup Revolution The Emily Edit The Wants Palette  (you can see my post on the palette here) since I purchased the palette in September 2018.  I thought it would be fun to post some look ideas I have come up with using the palette.  The lighting is a bit different in some of the photos as the weather was very changeable each day, but you can still get some look ideas from the photos.

I have given details on how to re-create the combination under each look item, along with suggestions for cheek and lip products to go with each look.

If you would like some look ideas using particular shades in the palette, or certain types of looks, let me know! I’m really enjoying playing about with it so stay tuned for more combination ideas!

Graphic Pink and Teal Eye (Using Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette Look

Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette Look

I really enjoyed watching the recent BBC Three series ‘Glow Up’ (you can read more about the series on the BBC site here) and it inspired me to try something different on my eyes.  I thought it would be fun to play with contrasting colours and came up with this graphic, winged eyeshadow look using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette (you can see my post on this palette here).  The eyes are very bold, so I chose to keep things very simple in terms of the cheek and lip colours I used (you can find out what shades I used and see a couple of full face shots below).

You can find more ideas for eyeshadow combinations using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Riviera Palette on the site here.

Inglot 10 Cream Pressed Pigment Eyeshadows

Inglot 10 Cream Pressed Pigment Eyeshadows and Palette

Inglot recently released the ‘Inglot 10 Cream Pressed Pigment Eyeshadows’ collection, a new formula for the brand which is part of the 10 year anniversary celebration.  The 10 shades are unique to the brand and inspired by their loose pure pigment range.

The amazing feature of this release is that you have the option to purchase all 10 shades, along with the limited edition Inglot 10 Palette (discounted to £56, usual price £65) or buy shades individually (£5 each).  It’s not often you have the choice over which shades you select, as there are times when you purchase a palette but only want – or end up using – some of them.

The Cream Pressed Pigment eyeshadows are available for purchase elsewhere in the world, if you live outside the UK and Ireland.  The ‘Inglot 10’ palette isn’t available for purchase if you aren’t in the UK or Ireland.  However, Inglot is instead offering a Freedom System Partylicious Palette, along with 10% off when you purchase the full set of 10 eyeshadows.

This post is slightly mixed, in that whilst I think these eyeshadows are amazing, there are some issues with them. I’ve discussed the versatile and beautifully sparkly nature of these eyeshadows, as well as the issues concerning their fragility, in the post in detail below.  I think the eyeshadows are definitely worth getting but it is helpful to know about the issues I have found so you can make a more informed choice on whether to purchase them.
